pretty much rockin' it.

In preparation for baby's arrival, we went ahead and brought up the toddler bed we've been storing in the basement and rearranged a little bit in Sophie's room so it would fit. Our thinking was that we would let Talia get used to seeing the bed in there, maybe sit on it to read books, and just gradually get to the point where she would sleep in it. Well, that very night, we were putting Sophie to bed and Talia came in and just crawled right up into that toddler bed. New bed, first time with a pillow and a blanket...wow! We went for it!

It was a giggly night. :) The girls were pretty excited to be sleeping in the same room! I went in there several times to tell Talia it was time to go night-night. She kept getting up and going over to Sophie's bed. They finally went to sleep after maybe an hour of that, and Talia did great all night. Since then, they've gotten better at going to sleep faster, but Talia falls out of her bed quite a bit. Nathan always checks on the girls before we go to bed, and he's found her sleeping on the floor a couple times. We've also heard her crying in the middle of the night and had to go in and help her get situated again.

She does get up earlier now :( but I'm really happy with how she's done! It's been about 2 weeks already. She doesn't miss her crib one bit! She seems so proud of her new bed and I think the girls have quickly gotten used to being together.

We do have to still tell Talia to be quiet sometimes--when she was in her crib, we would sometimes hear her kicking the wall and/or singing to herself. That was fine then, but now her "winding down" activities affect Sophie. Last night I was out with friends and came home to hear Nathan's report that Talia was pretty wild at bedtime. He said he went in there and Talia was over by Sophie's bed, shaking the rail and laughing. He put her in her crib for a timeout eventually, and after awhile Sophie hollered that she couldn't sleep because she missed Talia. He brought Talia back in and she went to bed just fine.

All in all, bedtime/naptime is maybe a little more complicated, but I think Talia is doing great! She does still have her binkies...we'll handle that one later.

You may have noticed that the room is crazy cluttered and filled with toys. :/ Yep, and that's not even showing you the closet situation. It's really overwhelming to try to fit clothes and shoes for two girls into one closet, not to mention Nathan and I store some stuff in there (board games and scrapbooking supplies). There's a LOT to do still, and 12 weeks to do it! :)

Also, the accent wall is super pink. Can we just paint over it with a lighter shade? Would we have to do anything to it first? As you can tell, we are not painting experts. And pink is tricky.

Finally, my baby girl looks so much older with her hair up.
